Satay ~ chicken

Satay or "sate" however you want to spell it ~ believed to be originated in Java, Indonesia. It is such popular in all South East Asian countries and I'm sure they all have their own authentic versions. It can be found throughout every state in Malaysia, from indoor restaurants to street hawkers. Most popular kinds of satay are usually chicken and beef however lately in NYC I've seen in menus with wierd satay like crocodiles, snakes others. What makes this dish exotic is its spicy peanut sauce dip and using bamboo skewers - back in my home town skewers are from midrib of the coconut leaves.
