New York weather has been crazy lately. I thought I created this mixed of hot and cold spicy BBQ chicken wings and shrimps over the salad, very refreshing I guess. Actually I deep fried both chicken wings and shrimps and dipped them to my homemade hot sauce which is the combination of fresh tomatos,garlic,ginger,celery,union and hot tobacos.

I picked this card for a co-worker wedding last Saturday, I know she appreciates it. I'm the guy finding greeting card is just a straight forward thing but find the right words and messages however can be surprisingly difficult. I love blank greeting cards, I could always used the type of words I want to tailor according to the card design. Picking sentiments or words sometimes quote or peom can be very inspirational to me. I love to handwriting onto paper and attaching it to the card, I feel this is really a good comprimise.

History & Folklore of Wild RiceThe Ojibwa and Sioux Indians of Minnesota call it "Mahnomem". The early French explorers in Minnesota and Canada called it Folles Avoines (wild oats). Ironically, wild rice isn't really a rice at all. It is an aquatic cereal grain with a biological technical name of Zizania Aquatica. Manominikegississ is their August Moon, aka rice-harvesting time.Wild rice harvesting is one process that modern technology sitll hasn't touched. The rice is still harvested the same way today as it was years before. It is usually done in a canoe or low-sided wooded boat. One person "poles the boat" through the rice bed while another person in the boat knocks the rice kernels off the stocks and into the boat. How? It's done with two long sticks and with one hand you bend the plants over into the boat and while holding it down, you beat the kernels off into the boat. Needless to say, this person has to be co-ordinated, and also skilled as to not tip the boat over or your entire harvest is all gone.The rice is then taken to the location where it is processed, namely the hulls are removed, cleaned debris, dried and ready for bagging and selling.Only a native American in Minnesota is allowed to harvest wild rice, and so it is usually sold by the Chippewa Indians in the Northern Minnesota area. I moved things around alot as usual, I finally found a perfect mirror couple of months ago and it fits beautifully over my Ethan Allen town house single chest. I just found great accent yesterday, its bright yellow color gives a great contrast over my red coffee table book... ah... perfect together. I need to DIY on the lamp shade, maybe the urn & I'm thinking of replace the art work insert to color from that black & white Eiffel Tower ... I love the frame.

What a coincidence! Its a 1st day of Ramadan and here I'm making my first cucumber spicy pickle. I thought it would be an appropiate time to bring back memory. Growing up all love spicy Indian pickle right from the bottle so I decided to make my own way. As an adult I still love it!

Its always much more satisfying making your home cook and no one can take it away from you.

This room at 1010 Ethan Allen grew into me day by day and to my surprise it becomes one of the most chic in my opinion though I'm not a slipcover kind of guy but sometimes when I feel like relaxing I just want to jump and throw my body onto it.

The dramatic artwork called Beach Scene by American Artist Michael Sharp really adds the contemporary feeling to the room.

My favorite piece here is The Coral Pewter Bowl, it really brings modern & sophisticated touch.

while visiting Harlem Flea Market the other day, I saw this small bananas, not like I haven't seen it in NYC before tons of them in China town but just something reminded my eyes that day, it brought me back to my childhood time. We call it back home in english translation "gold bananas". You'll see why we named it that when you try them, yes its a must try fruit commonly grown in South East Asia,has an exotic taste to it. Most people like to eat is as it but I like to make a bananas fritters with my own recipe and topping.... umm did I see chocalate? one of this day... I promise with pictures for sure but for now don't think gonna last long.

A quick visit to this small town Semporna located at the most the eastern coast of Sabah ( in Borneo ) Malaysia population approximately 14000 people prominently Bajau one of the most beautifull native of Borneo, can't remember when was the last time I was here... must have been at least 30yr.

What a lovely visit and as you can see if you love colors this is the place... It is a gateway for tourists

To me and I'm sure most of you designers as well, sometimes it takes hours to figure out how to present my cocktail starters to my guess. It has to be as perfect as I want it be. I got to make sure I use the right plates and colors must work with the theme, I think this is the first thing my guess would see when they get in, they kinda expect that from me I guess.

I took pictures to make sure not to repeat the same set up to the same guess, well we all have circle of friends.

This no-fuss pasta is one of my favorite dish. Prepare probably one or twice a month.Heat olive oil in in a medium size pot over low heat. Add onions and garlics until they turned lightly brown. Add chunked tomatoes,celery and mushroom if you are a mushroom lovers. stir frequently.Just simmer still with low heat and when ready to serve, add shrimps and make sure don't over cook.Serve over Pasta,I don't like to use salt and add black peppers to a taste.

I never satisfied with the setting or placing of accents in my apartment. I always move stuffs around and belive me I can get tired so quickly if I think it doesn't look like right. Its always the case I guess, you have to update you design it doesn't mean you have to buy new or expensive accents but move stuff around. Suprisingly!!! it amaze me sometimes.

As you all know I don't celebrate Christmas but I love the spirits of giving and decorating of the Holidays. It just take a creative twist in my design. So many new colors coming up latelty not just red & green kinda colors of the past. I love when the NY department stores like Blooming, Macys and many more unveil their annual holiday windows ~ so full of exciting new fun ideas to see! sometimes I feel like a kid again.

I just love accents shopping, I used to think high end accents really make a different in decorating world,not in my world, its just how & where you're planning to display them. I started to look for stuffs I really like at that time and if I don't like it in a month or so I just recycle or give them away to friends. I did too many expensive mistakes in the past. Window shopping always one of my design hobby, the coming of low end design accents mega stores like Target or Ikea really open my eyes that you don't have to be too expensive to decorate... be you.

Believe me its so easy to set up a beautiful dining table with things you already have. Whether I'm planning a casual get together with friends or a formal dining party, I always take extra steps to express my thought into entertaining my guests.
Just remember you don't need to get stuck with that traditional beautiful flowers & candles when comes to centerpiece. Sometimes just a fresh apple on plate is more than enough to give that sparkle. I'm sure your dining is going to be fantastic.

Looking for a great steak recipe where everyone can share? try mine... did I say recipe? well I meant ingredients. Sauteed fresh spanish with garlic clove just few minutes before serve. Bake sweet potatoes with skins and removed the skin and cut in whatever size you heart desire I don't really care. Pour the juice from the broiled steak onto cut potatoes and add few walnuts or any nuts you prefer here. Just a secret tips here.... ready? just lightly squeeze lemon on spanish before adding sweet potatoes and sliced steak over.... ENJOY!!! let me know....

Satay or "sate" however you want to spell it ~ believed to be originated in Java, Indonesia. It is such popular in all South East Asian countries and I'm sure they all have their own authentic versions. It can be found throughout every state in Malaysia, from indoor restaurants to street hawkers. Most popular kinds of satay are usually chicken and beef however lately in NYC I've seen in menus with wierd satay like crocodiles, snakes others.What makes this dish exotic is its spicy peanut sauce dip and using bamboo skewers - back in my home town skewers are from midrib of the coconut leaves.

This is the first free design project with an affortable budget I've ever done, well free breakfast, lunch and dinner etc why not? the color is so calm and soft therefore I had to add warm fabric on the large sectional sofa. Entertaining friends and families is one of the client menu in designing his apartment.

The 6' X 9' hallway entrance is a plus for this 1 bedroom apartment. I wanted this are to be bright and welcoming, small brown-coffee frame mirror hanging vertically makes this room appears higher than nine feet.

Black leather dining chairs around rectangular glass table really anchor this open space dining area. We picked this area rug to define this room over the warm wall to wall carpet, again here blue is our primary color. Black and white frames give this room the clean and simple look and can be seen in the entire dining too.

This is the small bar area, I didn't really like the idea of having bar in a small space therefore I refocusing to just another small designing area.
